The importance of "feeling"

Under Paul's urging I began to read "Think and Grow Rich," a Napoleon Hill book; one of his favorites.  After starting the book, I found I needed to replace the word "money" (because the word triggered negative emotions and doubt for me), with "Joy" and then I really began to enjoy and resonate with what Napoleon was sharing.

In relation to our recent topics and discussions, I share the following from the book, for your consideration:

"Plain, unemotional words do not influence the subconscious mind.  You will get no appreciable results until you learn to reach your subconscious mind with thoughts, or spoken words which have been well emotionalized with belief."

When you are creating or reciting Intentions or affirmations, how can you find a way to infuse them with matching emotions?  When you can infuse them with "emotionalized belief" you will witness the life you desire unfolding before you!!  So, what this is saying is you have to feel and believe it first!  You must be able to intelligently ignore the current situation, for it is the result of past feelings/thoughts to create something different!

Having awareness of your thoughts/feelings/emotions is a first step to free yourself to accomplish this very key ingredient in the manifesting process.

In a recent Intenders Circle, Intender LJ shared: first a person has a thought (usually unconscious) which is then followed by an emotion and then a series of  thoughts that either make you feel better or worse then you did before you had the trigger thought.  These series of thoughts are usually backed up with an arsenal of beliefs, habits and repetitive behaviors which are often not in alignment with the overall desire of the person.

We further discussed, as a group that evening, the importance of building awareness of our thoughts; so we can consciously create with them (in lieu of letting our old habits create for us - which creates what we already have). Do you recall the Einstein quote, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result"?   (Paul's sister Carolyn recently reminded me of this quote and it sure fits for this post!)

Our emotions give us a clue of our thoughts; if the emotion is a good feeling one and in alignment with your overall desires, then you can acknowledge that you are on your path.  You can grow that thought/feeling and better create your desires easily and joyfully.

However, if the emotion is out of alignment with your desires and you feel in a downward spiral away from your overall underlying Joy, then your negative emotion is a healthy motivator for you to make a change.  (Please understand this process is not a denial of the emotion; their is no benefit in denial.  When emotions are stuck or suppressed is when they are unhealthy; it is normal to feel sad, angry, resentful, depressed, etc.  It is not healthy, when you "hang out" in a negative emotion for an inappropriate amount of time; days, months, lifetimes.  Negative emotions are unhealthy when you let them become who you are).

I have found, an easier place to begin to build awareness, is to notice the (second set) of thoughts, the ones that come right after you feel the emotion.  Notice what story you are making up that are associated with (following) the emotion.   What story are you retelling yourself that is out of alignment with what your desires are?

Abraham teaches us to reach for a "higher feeling thought"; as described in the "pivoting" tool.

Byron Katie teaches to ask the question - "is this really true?," then discard what is not and create a better feeling story.

We have talked about many other "tools", in our Intenders Circles that you could choose to build more awareness.  What ever tool you use to bring your thoughts and then your feelings into alignment with your desire is not important.  One tool make work for one incident and another for another.  The important action is to realize you have a choice what to think; it is just a thought and you can change that.  It is called perspective!

You will be helping yourself to get out of your own way!  In time, as you build this "awareness muscle" you will begin to notice the thought before the emotion and then be able to enjoy and appreciate your negative emotions for what they are - motivators for change!

It is our contradicting thoughts, conscious and unconscious that keep us from creating our desires.  The process always works.  Our feelings and/or emotions are clues for us to know if we are in alignment or need to make a change; mentally, physically or emotionally.

If your desires are not manifesting, the answer to changing that is in what you are feeling, believing, talking about, and focusing on.  Changing (being aware of) that will create what you desire - it is all about you!
